BENEFICIARY:
Person who is entitled to Medicare coverage as shown on Medicare card.
BENEFIT PERIOD:
Up to 100 days of Medicare coverage available number of days received depends upon daily needs of beneficiary. Part A patients may receive many benefit periods, depending upon need, in a lifetime.
DENIAL LETTER:
Notice to patient that further Medicare benefits for current admission have been denied.
MEDICARE ELIGIBILITY:
For skilled nursing facility care. Beneficiary has had an inpatient hospital stay of at least three consecutive days, not including the day of discharge.
MEDICARE ENTITLEMENT:
Possession of Medicare card that shows Part A and/or Part B.
SKILLED SERVICE:
Requires a licensed nurse or therapist to administer or supervise service.
THIRTY DAY WINDOW:
Thirty day period following discharge from Medicare services in hospital or skilled nursing facility.  |
